Dhaka: Good news for thousands of registered teachers across Bangladesh! The Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) has confirmed that the NTRCA Institution Head Recruitment 2026 (also known as the 8th NTRCA NGI Head Teacher Recruitment 2026) will take place on April 18, 2026.
The written exam for heads, assistant heads, principals, vice-principals, superintendents, and assistant superintendents in non-government educational institutions will be held in four separate phases on the same day. Each phase will last one hour and will use the multiple-choice question (MCQ) format. The first phase starts at 9:00 AM. There will be a short break of one to one-and-a-half hours between phases.
NTRCA Chairman Md. Aminul Islam shared this update today. He said many candidates applied for more than one post, which is why the exam is divided into four phases to make it fair and smooth for everyone. He also announced that a press conference will be held tomorrow (April 7, 2026) to give full details.
How Many Posts Are Available?
The revised circular, published on March 25, 2026, offers 12,951 posts in total. These are spread across three directorates under the Ministry of Education:
- 9,708 posts under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (including head teachers, assistant head teachers, principals, and vice-principals).
- 3,131 posts under the Madrasa Education Directorate.
- 112 posts under the Directorate of Technical Education.
This is a revised notice. The earlier circular was cancelled, and 648 posts were reduced after fresh calculation of vacancies in MPO-listed (Monthly Pay Order) non-government schools, colleges, and madrasas.
Who Can Apply?
The recruitment is open to all eligible Bangladeshi citizens—both men and women—who hold NTRCA registration and meet the required educational qualifications and experience. The process is fully online and transparent, ensuring equal opportunity for everyone.
Exam Format and Marks
- Total marks: 100
- MCQ: 80 marks
- Academic qualification: 12 marks
- Viva (oral test): 8 marks
Candidates must score at least 40% separately in the MCQ and viva sections to pass. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
Important Dates (Already Completed)
- Application started: March 28, 2026
- Application closed: April 4, 2026 (11:59 PM)
- Application fee payment deadline: April 5, 2026
More than 53,000 candidates applied. Many applied for multiple posts, which is why the exam is being held in phases.
What This Means for Teachers
This is the first time NTRCA is fully handling the recruitment of institution heads in non-government schools and colleges. Education experts say the move will bring more fairness and stop irregular appointments. It gives every qualified teacher—whether from a school, college, or madrasa—the same chance to become a leader in their institution based on merit.
Teachers and candidates are advised to:
- Visit the official NTRCA website (ntrca.gov.bd) regularly for updates.
- Keep their admit cards and registration details safe.
- Check the syllabus PDF available on the official site for better preparation.
The NTRCA has also warned against fake certificates and has taken strict steps to stop fraud.
Stay tuned! Tomorrow’s press conference on April 7 is expected to share seat plans, exact timings for each phase, and other important guidelines. This recruitment drive is a big step toward building stronger leadership in Bangladesh’s non-government education sector.
