SSC Routine 2026 Released: Over 2 Million Students to Sit for Exams Starting April 21

Dhaka: The wait is finally over for millions of secondary level students across Bangladesh. The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has officially released the SSC Routine 2026, marking the beginning of the final countdown for one of the country’s most significant public examinations. According to the official announcement made on January 15, 2026, the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations are set to commence on April 21, 2026.

This year, approximately 1.9 to 2 million candidates from nine general education boards—including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Comilla, and Chittagong—as well as the Madrasah and Technical boards, are expected to participate.

Highlights of the SSC Exam Routine 2026

The theoretical examinations will begin with Bangla (Compulsory) 1st Paper on Tuesday, April 21. The written tests will continue for a month, concluding on May 20, 2026, with subjects like Biology and Economics.

Unlike previous years where exams typically started in February, the 2026 schedule was pushed back to April. Education officials noted that this shift was necessary to accommodate the National Elections held in February and the Holy Month of Ramadan in March, ensuring a smooth and stress-free environment for the examinees.

Practical Examinations and Logistics

Following the completion of the theoretical papers, practical examinations will begin on June 7, 2026, and run through June 14, 2026. These will be held at the students’ respective exam centers starting daily at 10:00 AM.

A critical instruction for students taking music or other performance-based subjects is to bring their own instruments, tabla players, and identification documents to the center. Schools must submit the practical marks and answer scripts to the boards by June 18, 2026.

Vital Guidelines for Candidates

The Board has issued a set of strict “Special Instructions” to ensure the integrity of the exams. Students and guardians should take note of the following:

  • Arrival Time: Examinees must take their seats in the hall at least 30 minutes before the exam starts (by 9:30 AM).
  • Admit Cards: Candidates must collect their admit cards from their respective school heads at least three days before the first exam.
  • The “Separate Pass” Rule: To pass the SSC, a student must secure passing marks in the Creative (Theory), Multiple Choice (MCQ), and Practical sections separately.
  • Digital Restrictions: No mobile phones are allowed in the centers. Only the Center Secretary is permitted to carry a phone for emergency coordination. Students may use approved scientific calculators.
  • OMR Accuracy: Students must be extremely careful while filling out their Roll and Registration numbers on the OMR sheet. Folding the answer sheet is strictly prohibited.

Syllabus and Preparation

For 2026, regular candidates will sit for exams based on a shortened syllabus. This decision was made following the curriculum transitions in 2024 and 2025. However, irregular or improvement candidates will likely follow the full syllabus as per their registration year.

As an education reporter, my advice to the “Batch 2026” is to focus on the gaps provided in the SSC Exam Routine 2026. While major subjects like Mathematics and Physics have small breaks, subjects like Bangla and English require consistent early preparation because the gaps are minimal.

The publication of the results is expected within 60 days of the last exam, likely by late July 2026. We wish all the candidates the very best for their upcoming journey. Stay healthy, stay focused, and follow the official board websites for any last-minute updates.
